Bank of Korea Money Museum

The main building of the Bank of Korea provides extensive information on the manufacturing process of money and the development of the Korean economy. The collections is vast and there are over 20,000 pieces of Korean and foreign banknotes, coins and tokens on display. The museum consists of four exhibition halls and an information reference library. Admission to the Bank of Korea Money Museum is free.

Children's Grand Park

Located in Gwangjin-gu, Children's Grand Park has been a beloved urban oasis since its opening on Children's Day, May 5, 1973. Cheonggyecheon Stream

Cheonggyecheon Stream is an 11 km-long stream that runs through downtown Seoul. Created as part of an urban renewal project, Cheonggyecheon Stream is a restoration of the stream that was once there during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). The stream was covered with an elevated highway after the Korean War (1950-1953), as part of the country's post-war economic development. Then in 2003, the elevated highway was removed to restore the stream to its present form today. The stream starts from Cheonggye Plaza, a popular cultural arts venue, and passes under a total of 22 bridges before flowing into the Hangang River, with many attractions along the way.
Cheonggyecheon’s turbulent history is on display at the Cheonggyecheon Museum, which opened in September 2005. The museum offers visitors the chance to learn about the many changes the stream has seen, including being buried underground and being restored. The story is told with the help of a scale-model and period photographs.

Haneul Park

Haneul Park is one of the five World Cup parks. It was established in 2002 to commemorate the 17th FIFA World Cup by transforming the former Nanjido landfill site. The park is arranged in a square shape and is divided into various themed sections, including areas planted with silver grass, native grasses, rock gardens, wildflower meadows, and sunflower fields. Notably, the observatory offers stunning views across the Hangang River, making it a popular spot for photography. Haneul Park is beloved for its annual Silver Grass Festival, held each October. Changdeokgung Palace

Changdeokgung Palace is the second UNESCO World Heritage Site in Seoul. It was selected as a representative palace for its notable beauty in the history of palace architecture in East Asia and for its excellent arrangement with the surrounding naturalenvironment. Changdeokgung Palace was built by King Taejong in 1405.
During the Imjin War, Joseon lost both Gyeongbokgung Palace and Changdeokgung Palace. Reconstructed in the 2nd year of Gwanghaegun (1610), Changdeokgung was used as the royal palace of Joseon for about 270 years.
Changdeokgung Palace has two major tour programs. The first is the general tour, which is a basic tour that covers Injeongjeon (仁政殿), the main hall, and Nakseonjae (樂善齋). The second is a special tour of Howon, which runs from Buyongji, the entrance toHowon, to Okryucheon. The conservation of the ecosystem is absolutely stunning and includes various ponds and gardens.

Banpodaegyo Bridge Moonlight Rainbow Fountain

Banpodaegyo Bridge is a two-tiered bridge over the Han River that features the Moonlight Rainbow Fountain, (the world’s longest bridge fountain recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records) with 380 water jets and a dazzling array of multi-colored lights. The Moonlight Rainbow Fountain’s water jets are dynamic and can move in time to music creating spectacular ever-changing displays. Add to that the hundreds of rainbow-colored lighting combinations when night falls, and it is easy to see why Banpodaegyo Bridge is a magnet for tourists year round.The Moonlight Rainbow Fountain operates from April to October every year, however the schedule of the fountain shows varies from month to month. Each fountain show lasts 20 minutes. In addition, Banpo Hangang Park hosts the "Moonlight Square Cultural Weekend" event every Saturday from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. from May to October, featuring a variety of musical styles including classical music with commentary, acappella, popera, jazz, brass bands and orchestras. National Folk Museum of Korea

The National Folk Museum of Korea displays the culture and folk history of the Korean people from prehistoric times to the end of the Joseon Dynasty. Since its establishment, the museum has dedicated itself to studying and researching the folk history of Korea, and collecting artifacts from different Korean regions in order to pass on an insight into the lifestyle and culture of Koreans. The museum achieves this by offering visitors various seminars, exhibitions, performance art, concerts and hands-on activities.   Located on the grounds of Gyeongbokgung Palace, the National Folk Museum of Korea is well known for its beautiful architecture. The building was constructed in the traditional Korean style comprising several stories with a pagoda on top. The three main exhibition halls at the museum cover different aspects of Korean life, as well as displaying various local costumes, musical instruments and festivals.

Eunpyeong Hanok Village

Located in Jingwan-dong of Eunpyeong-gu, the Eunpyeong Hanok Village captures a quaint, serene landscape with the Bukhansan Mountain serving as the backdrop for the modern, neatly-built hanoks. Jogyesa Temple

Jogyesa Temple was established in 1910 under the name Gakhwangsa by monks who aspired for the independence of Korean Buddhism and the restoration of the national capital. At the time, Gakhwangsa was the first temple to be situated within the four main gates of Seoul. In 1937, efforts began to relocate Gakhwangsa to its present site, now known as Jogyesa. Positioned in the heart of Jongno, Seoul, it is the only traditional temple in the city center, offering a place for visitors to rest. The temple grounds are open 24/7, welcoming locals and foreigners anytime. The temple hosts a temple stay program and the annual Lotus Lantern Festival.

Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP)

The Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), planned by Seoul City Hall in 2006, opened its doors on March 21, 2014. The purpose of DDP is to utilize design thinking for innovation and development. It also showcases global design trends and design innovation as a birthplace of creative knowledge in the 21st century. Gwanghwamun Square

King Taejo of the Joseon Dynasty moved the capital to Hanyang in 1394 and built Gyeongbokgung Palace, the official residence of the Joseon Dynasty. In addition, on both sides of the road in front of the palace’s main gate, the Street of Six Ministries, including Uijeongbu (State Council), was built. It was the best road in Hanyang. In 2009, that road opened again. Gwanghwamun Square and Cheonggye Plaza were built. The square is mostly “a square that restores the history of Gwanghwamun,” “a square that recreates the scenery of the Street of the Six Ministries,” “an emblematic square of Korea,” “an urban culture square where citizens mingle,” “a square in the city center,” and “a connection to the Cheonggyecheon Stream.” It functions as a space for history, culture, and relaxation. The focal point of this emblematic square in Korea is the statue of King Sejong the Great. The “downtown square” around the statue of Admiral Yi Sun-sin is also a space appreciated by city dwellers. In addition, artificial ponds and fountains are installed to cool off people from the summer heat. Also, the Haechi statue and Grass Plaza, which are symbols of Seoul, were also created.

Myeongdong Cathedral

Myeongdong Cathedral is the very first Roman Catholic parish church in Korea. It is also the first Gothic building ever built in Korea and was designated as Historic site No. 285 in Korea. On the basement floor, there is a small sanctuary where the remains of the martyrs are enshrined, and where visitors to the cathedral can pay their respects. Every May, Myeongdong Cathedral holds a cultural festival. The construction of the cathedral started in 1892 and was completed in 1898. Unlike most Gothic buildings, Myeongdong Cathedral was built with bricks instead of stones. It gives the cathedral a characteristic atmosphere. The splendid high ceilings inside the church and the arches in between the magnificent inner pillars show the beautiful Gothic style well. The basement contains the remains of nine saints and martyrs, who devoted their lives to the propagation of Catholicism in Korea. Behind the cathedral, Seongmo Dongsan (St. Mary's garden) is situated. During lunch hour, pipe organs are playing here. The garden offers a peaceful resting space after visiting the cathedral.

Bukchon Hanok Village

Bukchon Hanok Village reflects 600 years of Seoul’s history. The village is situated between Gyeongbokgung Palace and Changdeokgung Palace, and its streets are lined with traditional hanok. Unlike other hanok villages (such as Namsangol Hanok Village), Bukchon was not created for tourists and it is a residential village inhabited by Seoulites. The best place within Bukchon to experience the old hanok atmosphere may be Gaehoe-dong. Here, hundreds of hanok sit shoulder to shoulder. Bukchon Hanok Village has been loved by many as a travel destination in Seoul as the charm of the traditional hanok is being rediscovered. There are also art galleries, traditional workshops, and restaurants that have been built out from from hanok, making these spaces both traditional and unique. In the Bukchon Hanok Village, which holds history and culture from time past in every alley, the Bukchon Cultural Center delivers information and cultural context for these traditional and historic spaces.

※ Measures to Take When Visiting Bukchon Hanok Village
• Due to the designation of Bukchon as a Special Management Area (Red Zone), tourist visiting hours will be restricted starting in November 2024. Please refer to the link below for more details.View more→
• Bukchon Hanok Village is a prominent residential area in Seoul, densely populated with hanoks where residents live.
Please keep this in mind and refrain from the following actions. We ask for your cooperation in practicing “silent tourism.”
- Please keep noise levels to a minimum, (e.g. no loud voices, horsing around, filming, etc.) especially in the 31 Gahoe-dong area
- Please do not litter
- Please keep group visits small, with a maximum of 10 visitors
- Please do not use microphones, megaphones, or loudspeakers
- Please do not take photos or film the interiors of houses, even if the doors are open

The cultural tours of the Bukchon Hanok Village area, (Gahoe-dong 31, 33, etc.) will be phased out. Please keep that in mind when taking the Seoul City Walking tours.
