Myeongdong Kyoja (Main Branch) – A Korean Noodle Classic Since 1966
A beloved local institution since 1966, Myeongdong Kyoja is a family-run restaurant famous for its handmade kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) and steamed dumplings (mandu). With just four dishes on the menu—kalguksu, mandu, spicy bibim-guksu, and cold soybean noodles (kongguksu)—the focus is on quality and tradition.
All ingredients are locally sourced and prepared fresh daily, including their signature bold, garlic-rich kimchi, which has a fanbase of its own. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and the flavors have stayed true to their roots for decades.
Myeongdong Kyoja is known for its fast service, simple décor, and commitment to freshness—no leftovers are ever reused. While the dumplings are also available for takeaway, all other dishes are best enjoyed on-site.
There’s also a sister branch nearby, but this main location in Myeongdong is where it all began—making it a must-visit for first-timers and return visitors alike.
